The Civic Society and Ideas Festival present: two talks related to recent

publications on the First World War. Local resident Jonathan Swan will

introduce his book entitled Chelmsford in the Great War. It gives a fascinating

account of the effects of the war on life and works in Chelmsford between 1914

and 1918. Hugh Pym, the BBC’s Health Editor, will give a talk on a publication

written on behalf of ten London Scottish organisations. He is Editor of the book.

The title is Scots in Great War London A Community At Home And On the Front

Line 1914-1919. The book has a foreword by HRH The Princess Royal.
