Walk in the footsteps of Essex Women who rocked the boat! Meet the women of Chelmsford who fought for equality and their rights!
Discover the history of the Essex Girls from the 15th century Witches to the publicans of the 1960’s. From Anne Knight to the factory workers of WW11. Local historian Alan Pamphilon, will take you on a journey back in time! This is a special edition walk crafted specifically for the Ideas Festival 2018, Peace – WW1 one hundred years on where are we now?

The walk starts at Chelmsford Train Station and ends at the Stone Bridge.
The event is followed by a Talk and Panel Debate: Smashing the Glass Slipper, in the evening. This event encompasses a talk on Grace Chappelow and Anne Knight by Grace Scott from Chelmsford Museum followed by a panel Debate on equality.
